Not only does Joraco Press Company assemble our presses and custom machines in our Smithfield, RI facility, we manufacture all the frames and cylinder components for our presses as well. From raw stock aluminum, brass, and steel, we machine, turn, hone, and fit all our cylinders by hand for the absolute highest quality control possible. 
Many press manufacturers, particularly those outside of the US, will outsource their cylinder assemblies or source from generic suppliers. Joraco Press Company believes in high-quality American Manufacturing because we were literally born on the Blackstone River Valley where manufacturing started in America. As manufacturing moved throughout the country, and world, Joraco Press continues to have pride in supplying hundreds of American Manufacturing Companies with American-Made press equipment.
All press machines are an assembly of various components, but at the heart of every press is its actuator, whether it is a pneumatic cylinder, a hydraulic cylinder, or even a servo-controlled ball screw. At Joraco, we specialize in pneumatic cylinder actuation, and at the heart of every Joraco Press is a heavy duty, high quality air cylinder precision manufactured and hand assembled in our factory.
How We Use Them
Our DIRECT-AIRE® Series models feature a range of force options, from 650LBS to over 5000LBS. They are made from machined aluminum pistons and end caps, brass bodies, and precision steel rams. Because we manufacture and assemble them inhouse, we can easily accommodate special requests like custom stroke lengths.
The TOGGLE-AIRE® Series presses receive the same hand-built aluminum and brass cylinders, but they are tucked inside the press frame and attached to a lever and toggle. These cylinders will then receive a 10x boost in force at the end of the ram stroke due to the power of leverage.
Even our most complex cylinders, the HYDRO-AIRE™ Series air-over-oil actuators are hand-built here at Joraco Press Company. Featuring a rapid advance air stroke and automatic hydraulic boosted power stroke, the HP-Series cylinders pack a lot of force into a relatively small footprint.
